Big commit to Sault College
Power forward Tyler Brown, who has multiple seasons of high-level experience in the Quebec Major Jr. Hockey League, the Maritime Hockey League and the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, has committed to the Sault College Cougars for the 2017-2018 season.
A 1995 birth-year skater who hails from Echo Bay, just outside Sault Ste. Marie, Brown played 46 games in the QMJHL between standout seasons with the Yarmouth Mariners and Woodstock Slammers of the MHL and the Blind River Beavers of the NOJHL. He is also a former Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Soo Greyhounds.
At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Brown was a force for Sault College during its trial run, exhibition schedule against American Collegiate Hockey Association, Division 3 opponents in 2016-2017.
Brown played in all 12 of Sault College’s exhibition matches against ACHA teams last season and averaged almost three points per outing with 13 goals and 22 assists.
He is the latest high-end skater to commit to Sault College, which has joined the ACHA full time and will be part of its North Division for the 2017-2018 season.
Great to have Tyler coming back to us, he was a great leader and will coninue to be hopefully for a couple more years.
