Big coup for Sault College
Sault College Cougars of the American Collegiate Hockey Association have landed one of the better defensemen from the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Cole Peck, who starred for the Blind River Beavers in his only season in the NOJHL, has committed to play at Sault College for the 2017-2018 season.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pound defender, who hails from the Ottawa area, had originally committed to the SUNY-Canton Kangaroos of the Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association only to opt for Sault College instead.
A crowd favourite in Blind River during the 2016-2017 season, Peck netted 9 goals, 39 assists, 48 points in 65 games, playoffs included, as the Beavers made it all the way to the NOJHL finals.
In going to Sault College, Peck will again play alongside fellow 1996 birth-year defenseman Andrew Trowbridge, who also was a key performer with the NOJHL Beavers last season.
The 2017-2018 campaign will mark Sault College’s first official season as members of the ACHA. The Cougars competed at the Division 3, ACHA level on an exhibition basis in 2016-2017, taking part in 12 games and winning 5 of them.
I had heard that on Sat. He was my favourite player for the Beavers. Might have to make a road trip.
