Brennan Roy piles up points

From the Kapuskasing Flyers of the Great North Midget Hockey League to the erstwhile Abitibi Eskimos of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to the best defenseman in the Ontario Jr. Hockey League as a member of the Cobourg Cougars.

It has been quite the high-end career to date for Brennan Roy, who hails from the northeastern Ontario town of Iroquois Falls.

The 6-foot, 190-pound defender has done nothing but put up points from his blueline position.

He was a points-per-game defenseman over his two seasons in the Great North with Kapuskasing.

He was a 30-goal scorer during a single NOJHL season with Abitibi.

And in two seasons in the OJHL with Cobourg, he has racked up 34 goals, 76 assists, 110 points.

Now one of six finalists for the top defenceman award in the entire Canadian Jr. Hockey League, Roy still has some games to play this season as Cobourg will play host to the RBC Cup from May 13 to 21.

But what about a Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association commitment for Roy?

Well, there has been no formal offer as of yet for the all-purpose, all-around, major-minutes defenseman who will wind up his junior career with Cobourg at the RBC Cup this month.

Surely, this kid is a steal-in-waiting for some NCAA school.

What you think about “Brennan Roy piles up points”

  1. I was lucky enough to be able to watch Brennan and Locke play some games these past two seasons and they were both stalwarts in these games. Iroquois Falls should be proud of these two as they have represented their town well. Best of luck too these fine two kids in their future hockey careers.

  2. Great player and Great Kid! Succeeds everywhere he goes and I expect him to do so wherever he ends up next year. A likeable and coachable kid who simply works too hard not to succeed.

The boy has done his sharing of winning too, probably has 6 NOHA championships under his belt and an All Ontario Bantam “A” championship as well. All the accolades he’s received are well deserved. Looking forward to seeing him and his fellow Iroquois Falls native and long time teammate Brendan Locke play in next week’s RBC in Cobourg.

Congrats Bren on being the OJHL’s defenseman of the year and a nominee for the entire CJHL.

  3. Thanks Brendan for putting Iroquois Falls on the map keep it up nice to see a former Eskimo shining keep it up 👍

  4. WTG Bren !! Seen him evolved from novice . A little piece of I -Falls will be left in Cobourg. Congrats !!
