Hobey Baker nomination

Sophomore defenseman Brennan Kapcheck of American International College has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award which annually goes to the top Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association player.

A skilled, under-sized skater, Kapcheck is a client of David Maciuk of JDM Sports.

“We started working with Brennan in his bantam major year when he played for Chicago Young Americans,” Maciuk relayed to Hockey News North. “Brennan then played one year minor midget, one year major midget, then he was off to the North American Hockey League (with the Aston Rebels) where he received his NCAA, D1 commitment to AIC.

“In his first year at AIC, he lead the team in points as a defenseman and was also named rookie of the year for Atlantic Hockey. He was also nominated last year for the Hobey Baker Award and this past summer he was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs, National Hockey League development camp,” Maciuk said, in summation of Kapcheck.
