Jason Uhl stars in school

Sault College Cougars of the American Collegiate Hockey Association have confirmed the return of forward Jason Uhl for the 2017-2018 season.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Uhl played for Sault College in 2016-2017 when it debuted in the ACHA on a trial run. Uhl played in all 12 of Sault College’s introductory season games and scored 5 goals, 6 assists, 11 points.

Prior to attending Sault College, Uhl suited up for the Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League during the 2015-2016 season and produced 12 goals, 21 assists, 33 points in 46 games. Before Blind River, Uhl was a high school hockey star in Sault Ste. Marie for the St. Mary’s Knights and also skated for the Batchewana Attack of the erstwhile Canadian International Hockey League.

Academically, Uhl is a standout in the classroom at Sault College, sporting a 4.0 grade point average in the school’s Bachelor Of Science nursing program that is affiliated with Laurentian University.

The 2017-2018 campaign will mark Sault College’s first official season as members of the ACHA. The Cougars competed at the Division 3, ACHA level on an exhibition basis in 2016-2017, taking part in 12 games and winning 5 of them.
