Three teams, including the Ontario Hockey League champion Hamilton Bulldogs, remain in the quest for the 2018 Memorial Cup title.

Western Hockey League champion Swift Current Broncos were eliminated from the playoff picture on Wednesday with a 6-5 loss to the host Regina Pats.

Regina will play Hamilton in Friday’s semi-final match. The winner will advance to Sunday’s title tilt against the Quebec Major Jr. Hockey League champion Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Friday’s semi-final game is slated for a 10 p.m. start. Sunday’s championship match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Hamilton, Regina and Acadie-Bathurst all finished the round-robin portion of the tournament with identical win-loss records of 2-1. But Acadie-Bathurst was awarded first place and a bye to the championship game by virtue of a better goals-for/goals-against ratio than Hamilton and Regina.

Swift Current went win-less with a record of 0-3.

Of note, all three of Hamilton’s games have been decided by one goal.

The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Regina before edging Swift Current 2-1 and nipping Acadie-Bathurst 3-2.
