New job for Kevin Cain

One of the good guys in the game, Kevin Cain has a long association with hockey, particularly the junior level, where his stellar record of championship success speaks for itself.

In six years as general manager of the Soo Thunderbirds, Cain led them to three Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League titles and two Dudley-Hewitt Cup, Central Canada championships.

He was also named NOJHL general manager-of-the-year three times.

Prior to joining the Thunderbirds, Cain had a one-year stint as coach and general manager of the Soo Indians in 2006-2007 — and led the erstwhile Michigan-based team to the NOJHL championship.

A reputable individual and a tireless worker, the well-connected Cain has built a lifetime of associations at the junior A, major junior and American and Canadian collegiate levels.

Fittingly, Cain — whose association with the Thunderbirds ended when new ownership took over following the 2015-2016 championship season — is taking his expertise to JDM Sports as a family advisor/player agent.

And JDM Sports president David Maciuk is thrilled to welcome Cain and his connected ways and experience.

“Anytime you can add experience like that to your organization it makes you better,” Maciuk said of Cain. “Now his wins will be getting players to the next level and fulfilling their academic and athletic goals. I am beyond thrilled to add Kevin to JDM Sports.”

Maciuk has a long association with Cain.

In fact, when Cain coached the aforementioned Soo Indians to the ’06-07 NOJHL championship, Maciuk’s son Justin was a member of the team as a hard-working winger.
