St. Mary’s Knights of Sault Ste. Marie have won the Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association ‘AAA’ high school hockey championship.

The Knights capped a perfect two days with their fourth straight win tonight, a convincing 8-0 blanking of College Notre-Dame Alouettes — the no. 1 ranked team in Sudbury — in the NOSSA title tilt.

Sudbury was the site of the two-day NOSSA ‘AAA” playdowns.

St. Mary’s right winger Daniel Mills called the Knights championship victory “a total team effort. We came together as a team, we worked together to make sure we got the job done.”

In the four-match NOSSA set, Mills — who has a reputation as a physical, selfless, two-way player with an edge to his game — had one goal, seven assists, eight points.

A Grade 12 student at St. Mary’s, this is Mills’ first season of high school hockey. He spent last season with the Sault Source For Sports AA midgets.
