After nine straight road games to begin their first season as official members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, Sault College Cougars get to skate on home ice.

The Cougars are home to the Schoolcraft College Ocelots today at 8 p.m. and Saturday at noon at Rankin Arena.

Playing in the North Division of the Division 3 level ACHA, Sault College has a record of 7-0-2 through nine games and has out-scored its opposition by a 72-33 margin.

Forward Ryan Vendramin leads the Cougars in scoring with overwhelming totals. He has 16 goals, 12 assists, 28 points despite having missed two of Sault College’s nine games to date.

A local product, Vendramin played for the old Soo North Stars major midgets before moving up to skate for the Sarnia Legionnaires of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League and the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League.

Among the many other top performers for Sault College have been a pair of defensemen who starred in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in 2016-2017.

Cole Peck, formerly of the Blind River Beavers, has 4 goals, 7 assists, 11 points while Soo Eagles grad Nick Trecroce has 2-8-10 totals.

What you think about “Sault College home for two”

  1. Great competitive hockey to watch and with a gate price of 5 dollars you really cannot be entertained for less. Hope the community will support these young student athletes in their quest for Nationals in their first year.
