Four of the five northwestern Ontario based teams from the Superior International Jr. Hockey League will begin regular season play this weekend.

Kam River Fighting Walleye and Thunder Bay North Stars will play a home and home set as will the Dryden Ice Dogs and Red Lake Miners.

The rest of the 2020-2021 regular season schedule in the SIJHL will be released in the days ahead, noted commissioner Darrin Nicholas.

Fort Frances Lakers are the fifth team from northwestern Ontario that is a part of the SIJHL. And Nicholas, as commissioner, is working on trying to fit Fort Frances into the SIJHL schedule, Hockey News North has confirmed.

As of now, the SIJHL is planning for its teams to play a 20-game regular season slate of contests, which is a reduction from the norm relative to COVID-19 and subsequent northwestern Ontario public health unit regulations.
