Kemptville 73’s of the Central Canada Hockey League have been sold to an ownership group that includes a Sault Ste. Marie native.

A lawyer by trade, Paul Lebreux of the Soo is among the Ottawa-area troika that has purchased the Jr. A franchise from former Ontario Hockey League and National Hockey League goalie Ron Tugnutt.

Former OHL and NHL defenseman of considerable note, Jason York, and wealth management investment advisor Joe Jeffries are Lebreux’s partners in taking over the reputable Kemptville franchise.

  1. Fyi, not sure if you are aware. There’s another CCHL team with a ‘Soo’ connection. The Cumberland Grads have been owned by Steve Barban, a Sault Ste Marie native, for the last eleven years. Mr Barban was born & raised in the Soo. Following completing high school in the Soo he attended Carleton University, graduated, and currently owns his own wealth investment management company, the Cumberland Grads Junior A hockey team, and other business ventures in Ottawa.

    1. Yes, well aware of Steve and his association with the Grads. His name has been mentioned on this site a time or two. Thanks!
