Jake Mactaggart is back home and the Sudbury Royals are the beneficiary.

After tending goal for other junior teams the past three seasons, Mactaggart will play his final season of eligibility in 2014-2015 with the Sudbury Royals of the new Canadian International Hockey League.

And not only is the 1994 birth-year goaltender intent on ending his junior career in style with Sudbury’s newest junior hockey team, Mactaggart has become what Royals general manager KB Beals refers to as a poster boy.

“Jake has become the backbone for our franchise, a veteran presence for the ever-growing movement of the Royals in the Greater Sudbury area,” Beals told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “He’s our poster boy.”

Besides being a featured interview by Sudbury media outlets CTV, Eastlink TV and weekly newspaper Northern Life, Mactaggart has also voiced a commercial on behalf of the Royals for radio station KICX-FM.
