Goalie Noah Zeppa of the lowly Soo Major Thunderbirds has been named most valuable player in the Great North Midget Hockey League for the 2018-2019 season.

Zeppa, who has a 2002 birth date, was a standout on a sub-par Major Thunderbirds team that had a regular season record of 12-24-0.

Zeppa — who was also named the league’s top goalie — was among a number of individuals from the Great North who were recognized with awards that were revealed today.

Other award winners include:

Top forward: Zach Lefebvre, North Bay Major Trappers.

Top defenceman: Ben Brunette, North Bay Major Trappers.

Top defensive forward: Sam Garagan, North Bay Major Trappers.

Most gentlemanly player: Zacharie Giroux, Sudbury Minor Wolves.

Rookie of the year: Chase Stillman, Sudbury Minor Wolves.

Regular season scoring champion: Zach Lefebvre, North Bay Major Trappers.

Best goals against average: Reece Proulx and Benjamin Gaudreau, North Bay Major Trappers.

Coach of the year: Guy Blanchard, North Bay Major Trappers.

Trainer of the year: Andre Guenette, North Bay Major Trappers.

Manager of the year: Ron Holmes, Timmins Majors.

Builder award: Claude Denomme, New Liskeard Cubs.
