Close contests in Great North

A trio of narrow decisions was the story from Friday night as the season-opening weekend began in the Great North Midget Hockey League.

SOO 4, TIMMINS 3

Rookie forward Devin Mauro tallied twice, including the game winner in overtime, as the Soo Jr. Greyhounds edged the visiting Timmins Majors by a 4-3 margin.

The two teams play again tonight at 7:00 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00 at John Rhodes Community Center.

NORTH BAY 7, NEW LISKEARD 5

Alex Little scored two goals as the North Bay Major Trappers outlasted the New Liskeard Cubs 7-5.

Jackson Buffam countered with a pair of goals for New Liskeard.

SUDBURY 4, KAPUSKASING 3

Nolan Moxam scored once and added an assist as the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves nipped the Kapuskasing Flyers 4-3.
