Slated to increase membership from seven to nine teams, the Great North Midget Hockey League will hold its schedule meeting this Saturday ahead of the 2017-2018 season.

Minor midget teams from Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay are poised to join the Great North loop to create a nine-member league for the upcoming season.

The nine teams would include minor midget and major midget entries from the Soo, North Bay and Sudbury. Kapuskasing Flyers, New Liskeard Cubs and Timmins Majors will all return as major midget teams.

Kapuskasing and Timmins will both feature new head coaches for the 2017-2018 campaign.

Glen Denney returns to the Kapuskasing bench after a hiatus of a few seasons while Brandon Perry takes the helm in Timmins.
