Hound midgets sweep Kap

It wasn’t easy but Soo Greyhounds used the home ice of John Rhodes Community Centre to take three straight games from the Kapuskasing Flyers on the weekend to open the 2016-2017 Great North Midget Hockey League season.

In beginning the season with a 3-0 record, the Greyhound midgets upended the visitors from Kapuskasing by 5-3, 5-4 and 3-2 scores. The 5-4 victory came in overtime.

Lucas Theriault — a 2016 Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Niagara IceDogs — was the offensive leader for the Greyhounds with 3 goals, 5 assists, 8 points.

Also having a productive weekend for the Soo were Noah Boman with 3 goals, 4 assists, 7 points, Nik Gervais with 3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points and Caleb Wood with 1 goal, 4 assists, 5 points.

All four players have 2000 birth dates.
