Upon being sidelined since early October with a broken finger, Calem Mangone is making the most of his return to the Soo Jr. Greyhounds of the Great North Midget Hockey League.

The 15-year old rookie forward tallied once and set up another goal today as the Jr. Greyhounds upended the visiting New Liskeard Cubs by a 5-2 margin.

Mangone also scored a goal on Friday in a 6-2 win over New Liskeard in what was his first Great North action since October 6. He now has four goals, four assists, eight points in just eight games this season.

Ty Zachary also had a noticeable outing for the Soo in today’s triumph. The 17-year old forward produced a goal and two assists as the first-place Jr. Greyhounds improved their record to 14-4-2.

Dylan Forsyth, Dylan Szabo and Stephen Pszeniczny also scored for the Jr. Greyhounds while Jackson Buffam and Benjamin White replied for the Cubs.

Workhorse goalie Zach Prusky turned in another strong effort for New Liskeard as did hard-working forward Zach Lajoie, despite being held off the scoresheet.

The Cubs now have a record of 5-8-1 on the season.

The two teams conclude their three-game weekend set on Sunday morning at 11:00 at John Rhodes Community Center.
