Soo Minor Thunderbirds have made it in to the Great North Midget Hockey League win column. Times two, as a matter of fact.

Taking advantage of home ice this weekend, the Minor T-Birds cuffed the North Bay Minor Trappers by decisive scores of 6-1 and 7-1. The back to back wins improved the Minor T-Birds record to 2-4-1 through 7 games of the 2018-2019 season.

“It was really nice to see the players rewarded this weekend with a pair of wins,” Minor T-Birds coach Jamie Henderson told Hockey News North.

“It’s been a very difficult schedule to start the season but the team is real hungry to improve,” Henderson added. “We received some great contributions from the entire team which makes the weekend feel that much better.”

Jake Kovacs and Stephen Pszeniczny tallied twice apiece in the opening game of the weekend to spark the Soo offense. Then, to complete the sweep, affiliate player Devin Mauro scored three times and defenseman Jack Matier had three assists to lead the Soo.
