It was a relentless road effort by the Timmins Majors that paid off with a come-from-behind overtime triumph over the Soo Greyhounds in Great North Midget Hockey League action from Friday.

Minus injured scoring leader Austin Holmes, the visitors from Timmins overcame a 3-1 deficit with a last-second goal in the second period, an equalizing tally midway through the third and the winning marker as the seconds ticked down in overtime to post a well-deserved 4-3 win over the Soo.

Cameron Svec’s overtime goal gave Timmins the victory and improved the Majors record to 6-10-1 in the major midget division of the Great North.

Cameron Chisholm, with a pair, and Riley Brousseau with a solo marker had scored earlier goals for Timmins, which rode the effective coaching of rookie bench boss Brandon Perry in addition to receiving a sparkling performance from goalie Dylan Dallaire.

Avery Rebek was an end-to-end standout for the Greyhounds and scored all three goals for the Soo, which takes a record of 7-15-4 into a pair of games against the New Liskeard Cubs at John Rhodes Community Centre — tonight at 7:00 and Sunday morning at 11:00.

Rebek now has 16 goals on the season for the Soo.
