Short on players for a weekend road trip, French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League called on defenseman Jordan Ritchie from the Soo Greyhounds of the Great North Midget Hockey League.

Ritchie, a tough, dependable defender with a 2001 birth date, played for French River in back to back games on Friday and Saturday against the Soo Eagles and Soo Thunderbirds, respectively.

French River was able to use Ritchie as one of its affiliate players from the Great North loop.

Ritchie’s hockey bloodlines include those of his father, David Ritchie. The elder Ritchie played parts of two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League in the early 1990s as a defensive-minded left winger with both the erstwhile Dukes of Hamilton and the Soo Greyhounds.
