Soo teams take Timmins
Soo Major Thunderbirds and Soo Minor Thunderbirds both scored victories over the visiting Timmins Majors in Great North Midget Hockey League action from this weekend.
On Friday, the Major Thunderbirds trimmed Timmins by a 3-1 tally. Then on Saturday, the Minor Thunderbirds came through with a 2-0 verdict over the visitors.
In the weekend opener, Cole Ambeault, Nick Jameus and Michael Chaffay scored for the Major T-Birds and Noah Zeppa was solid between the pipes for the Soo. Pierre Racicot scored the lone goal for Timmins.
The Minor T-Birds then skated to victory to end the winning weekend for the Soo via the shutout goal-tending of Evan Nicholls and goals from Nixon Zelonko and Gavin Ritacco.
