Timmins trims T-Bird midgets

A goal by captain Frederic Leclair-Pouw in the first minute of overtime lifted the visiting Timmins Majors to a 3-2 overtime triumph over the Soo Thunderbirds in Great North Midget Hockey League action tonight.

As Timmins was full marks for its victory, the verdict did not taint the terrific twine-tending display that was turned in by Soo goalie Noah Zeppa, who made countless tough saves in the T-Bird net.

Carson Cavalieri and Riley Robitaille also scored for Timmins while Brock Santa Maria and Justin Mauro replied for the Soo minor midgets, a first-year entry in the Great North.

Mauro, with his blazing speed, was a constant threat for the Soo throughout the match, which was the regular-season opener for the Thunderbirds, a first-year, minor-midget-aged team in the Great North loop.

What you think about “Timmins trims T-Bird midgets”

  1. That’s great, thanks. I guess a couple of the midgets got called up to the Thunderbirds for their game last night. Does anybody know which two players those were? How are the goalies doing for the midgets? How is the player that was drafted by the grehounds doing? would be nice to see some detailed write ups about the games from the major midgets since we can’t get to town to watch them all.

  2. Derek James: there are no cousins or brothers on the major midget team…. just that you keep pestering Randy on what he should be writing about yet…here’s an idea…call your relative and have them free lance for you…. I’m sure their parents attend the games, why do you need Randy to spoon feed you when your Brother or Sister can tell you everything…

  3. They weren’t there either . And they aren’t great at relaying the gsme anyways. But here’s a thought informed, how about write about all the teams equally? Just a thought. Might be some kids that have followers that aren’t as concerned with just the minor midget team. Look at the write ups and tell me there isn’t a landslide crush to a certain team.
There’s some other boys working hard elsewhere that deserve more mention than they are getting.
And I never said my nephews played on the same team did I?
Randy did write a new article however, and it was very good. Hope some other coaches and managers get in the radio show as well. Thanks

  4. in other words…you want YOUR nephews names dropped more often to give them draft/college exposure….just say it…. by the way … eventually your family members would know the outcome BEFORE it hits the sports news….. write about all teams equally….and lets give everyone a ribbon too….he writes what he writes about as it happens to come to him….no more…no less…no secret agenda…..
