Trio in tune for Jr. Hounds

Veteran Calem Mangone and rookie line-mates Lincoln Moore and Cooper Foster teamed up for seven goals and 12 points as the Soo Jr. Greyhounds put the finishing touches on the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in Great North Under 18 Hockey League activity from Saturday.

Mangone netted three goals and two assists, Moore had the hat trick and a helper while Foster scored once and set up two others in a 7-2 Soo romp over Sudbury.

Playing on the road, coach Jamie Henderson and the Jr. Greyhounds took home a 2-1-1 record from the four mini matches against the Nickel Capital Wolves.

Besides the day-ending 7-2 win, the Soo also scored a 4-3 victory to go with a 2-2 tie and a 3-2 loss.

Others who had a notable day for the Jr. Greyhounds included forward Stephen Pszeniczny and goalie Noah Metivier.

Pszeniczny had two goals over the four games while Metivier was in net for both Soo victories.

The Jr. Greyhounds and Nickel Capital Wolves have now played eight mini games over the past two weekends with the Soo holding the edge with a 4-2-2 record to begin the Great North season.
