Michigan Warriors take charge

So far so good for Michigan Warriors, who have picked a good time to solve an opposing puzzle.

The Warriors have taken a two games to none lead in their first-round, best-of-five, North American Hockey League playoff series with Janesville Jets.

The Warriors — who are the second seed in the NAHL’s North Division — used home ice advantage on the weekend to push Janesville to the brink of elimination, defeating the third-ranked Jets by 4-2 and 5-1 scores.

Game 3 in the series is slated for Janesville on Friday night.

Janesville entered the playoffs as the hottest team in the NAHL North, having posted a 10-1-1 record down the stretch to vault from sixth place to third in the regular-season standings.

Included in that 10-1-1 record for Janesville over its last 12 games of the regular season was a 3-1-1 mark against Michigan.

A key to the Warriors success in the first two games was the play of the Connor Lyons-Jake Hopfner-TJ Stuntz line.

Lyons, who played a season in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League with Soo Eagles before moving to the NAHL, had a goal and an assist in Game 2 to aid the Warriors cause.

  1. Randy,

Thanks for the great coverage of our Warriors team, you picked awesome picture to use of #10 . Of course I’m partial though he does seem to have his mother’s good looks. Go Warriors! Janesville will exit the playoffs tonight.

    1. Tim,

      You are welcome, man.

To be sure, TJ is a good player and a good-looking kid. And if you say he looks like his mother, I will take your word on that, lol.

      Regards,

      Randy
