Michigan Warriors are on the road to Port Huron for Game 1 of a best-of-five playoff series that will determine the champion of the North American Hockey League’s North Division.

Second-seeded Michigan finished 10 points behind first-place Port Huron but the Warriors took the regular-season series from the Fighting Falcons.

Game 1 in the series is tonight at 7 p.m. in Port Huron. Game 2 is Saturday night at 7, also in Port Huron.

As they seek to upset Port Huron and advance to the NAHL’s Robertson Cup Tournament which features the playoff champions of the four divisions, the Warriors will be out to extend their playoff winning streak.

Michigan swept Janesville Jets in three straight games in the opening round of the playoffs.

But Michigan is up against a Port Huron team that is coming off a first-round sweep of its own, having sidelined the Johnstown Tomahawks.

Coached by Moe Mantha — who grew up in the North Bay, Ont. area and still maintains an off-season home in nearby Sturgeon Falls — the Warriors got goals from nine different players in the opening-round win over Janesville.

Colin Larkin, Zack Szajner and Jon Farkas scored twice apiece for Michigan in its conquest of Janesville while fellow forwards AJ Marcinek, TJ Stuntz, Connor Lyons, Tyler Groat and Colin Horton and defenceman Mitchell Wedding all tallied once.

Wedding, by the way, is a former Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Soo Greyhounds.
