Blind River Beavers forward Zak Lambrecht is headed back to his home state of Minnesota to play for the Concordia College Cobbers effective the 2017-2018 season, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

Based in Moorhead, Minnesota, Concordia is a Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association hockey program.

Lambrecht was an impact player for Blind River in his only season in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League. Regular season and playoffs included, the compactly-built forward had 35 goals, 41 assists, 76 points in 70 games for a Beavers team that made it all the way to the NOJHL championship series.

“Zak was a great kid on and off the ice for us,” Beavers assistant general manager/assistant coach Craig MacDonald said of Lambrecht.

And Beavers head coach Kyle Brick told HockeyNewsNorth.com that, “Zak played a major role in our success this year, he is a small guy who played with a big heart. He was arguably one of our best players in the playoffs.”

Lambrecht, who has a 1997 birth date, arrived in Blind River via the recommendation of Minnesota area coach Nick Adamek.

Adamek is a former NOJHL player himself from his days with the erstwhile Northern Michigan Black Bears. He played in the NOJHL with the old Black Bears as a recruit of Charly Murray, who is now Blind River’s senior advisor and director of scouting.
