Michigan Soo product Ashton Calder scored goals in both of the Lake Superior State University Lakers home games against the University of Denver Pioneers. But it was Denver that left Taffy Abel Arena with 3-1 and 4-3 victories over LSSU this weekend.

Thus, the hockey Lakers now have a record of 2-2-0 through two weekends of non-conference play this 2019-2020 season. The weekend before, the Lakers used home ice to sweep the visiting Merrimack College Warriors by 6-2 and 4-3 scores.

As for Calder, the sophomore forward now has five points, including two goals, in the four games to date.

  1. Denver is the top ranked team in NCAA Div 1 hockey this week. Despite not winning, the Lakers played fairly even with them from what I’ve heard.
