Michigan Warriors to Ferris State Bulldogs

The leading scorer from the Michigan Warriors of the North American Hockey League is headed to the Division 1, Western Collegiate Hockey Association ranks.

Zack Szajner, a 1993 birth-year forward who led the Warriors with 13 goals, 27 assists, 40 points in 60 regular-season games and added 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points in 9 playoff matches for the NAHL North Division champions in 2013-2014, has committed to the WCHA’s Ferris State Bulldogs.

A strong skater with average size at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Szajner hails from White Lake, Michigan.

“This is like a dream come true,” Szajner told HockeyNewsNorth.com via telephone. “To get this opportunity is something I have worked for and wanted for a long time. I am going to go there and keep working hard and do whatever I can to help the team.”

Warriors coach Moe Mantha couldn’t be happier for Szajner.

“He works hard and is a good, solid player in both ends of the rink,” Mantha told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “Zack has really improved his game in the two years he was with us. I am really happy for the kid.”

  2. The Soo Eagles have 2 , D-1 committed players that they tendered. Will Gauthier and Chase Gamelin. Gauthier committed to LSSU before this senior year of high school, and Gamelin just recently committed this week. Both players played the past 3 years with the Sault High Blue Devils of Sault Michigan. A couple of local products both from the Sault who developed with the Blue Devils.
