Goalie Jack Berry, who played for the Soo Eagles during the 2014-2015 season when they were members of the North American Hockey League, has committed to play for the Wisconsin Badgers of the Division 1, Big 10 Conference.

Berry, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound, 1996 birth-year product of Holly, Michigan, is currently playing for the New Jersey Titans of the NAHL and has a record of 10-5-1 to go with a 2.09 goals against average and .930 save percentage thus far this season.

Bruno Bragagnolo, who is the general manager and part-owner of both the NAHL Titans and the aforementioned Soo Eagles — who are now members of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League — had plenty good to say about Berry.

“The Soo Eagles and New Jersey Titans are very proud and happy for Jack in attaining his goal of playing D1 hockey,” Bragagnolo told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “Jack has always demonstrated a great focus and work ethic to his position and now it has paid off with him going to play for a school like Wisconsin with such a great hockey program.

“Great person, great family and a great choice. We wish Jack continued success in his hockey career,” Bragagnolo added.

Berry, a personable youngster, gave thanks to those around him in getting the commitment to play at prestigious Wisconsin.

“I can’t thank my family, friends and coaches enough for believing in me and pushing me every step of the way,” Berry told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “Huge shout out to my teammates who have been by my side day in and day out. I can’t thank them enough.”

And Berry’s family advisor, David Maciuk of JDM Sports, chimed in on behalf of his client.

“We felt it was a great fit academically and an opportunity to earn net time right away. I’m thrilled for Jack,” Maciuk told HockeyNewsNorth.com.
