Blind River Beavers have stayed in their own back yard to sign a local product to a Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League card.

HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed that the Beavers have inked 1999 birth year forward Caleb Serre, who produced 31 goals, 14 assists, 45 points in 24 games for the Blind River Thunder midgets of the Nickel District Minor Hockey League in 2015-2016.

“Caleb is a local kid with a great skill set,” Beavers head coach Kyle Brick told HockeyNewsNorth.com.

After two seasons as an assistant coach with the two-time defending NOJHL champion Soo Thunderbirds, Brick is prepping for his first season as the Beavers bench boss.

Brick has already brought in Dylan King — a former Ontario Hockey League defenseman with the Soo Greyhounds — as an assistant coach and is looking for a second assistant to join the Beavers in a volunteer capacity.

Those interested in applying for the second assistant coaching position with the Beavers are asked to send their resume and cover letter to Brick via kyle_brick@hotmail.com with “Assistant Coach” in the subject line. Deadline for applications is Monday, July 18.
