Soo Eagles and Soo Thunderbirds will resume their Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League cross-border playoff series tonight.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Pullar Stadium in the Michigan Soo.

The no. 4 seed Eagles lead the West Division pennant-winning Thunderbirds two games to none in the second round, best-of-seven set.

A pair of 4-3 road decisions (one in double overtime) has the Eagles ahead in the closely-contested series.

Goal-tending has yet to be a factor one way or another in the series.

While Kade Phipps of the Eagles and Brandon Gordon of the Thunderbirds have not been sensational by any means, both have been solid.

Eagles associate coach and general manager Bruno Bragagnolo, appearing on last night’s Hockey North Show on radio station ESPN 1400, said the Michigan Soo squad is not looking past tonight’s Game 3.

“We are all aware of how good the Thunderbirds are and what they are capable of doing,” said Bragagnolo. “That is one team that we will never take lightly.”
