The annual Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League showcase event is going on at Big Bear Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. It began yesterday with six games and concludes today with six more.

All 12 NOJHL teams are playing two games apiece. All results count in the regular season standings.

Day 1 results are as follows.

Timmins 4, Rayside Balfour 1. Rock goalie Vance Meyer made 28 saves to shut down the Canadians.

Soo Eagles 3, French River 2. Caleb Wood scored the winning goal in overtime and Shane Brancato made 33 saves as the Eagles nipped the Rapids.

Hearst 4, Espanola 0. Rahul Bola had the shutout as the Lumberjacks blanked the Express.

Powassan 2, Blind River 1. Owen Say made 18 saves as the Voodoos edged the Beavers.

Soo Thunderbirds 8, Kirkland Lake 3. Three goals by Matthew Bazarin lifted the T-Birds past the Gold Miners.

Cochrane 3, Elliot Lake 2. Matt Minichiello tallied twice as the Crunch edged the Wildcats.
