Dunbar to Muskegon

Standout defenseman Tyler Dunbar has joined the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League from the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, Hockey News North has confirmed.

The USHL is the top junior hockey league in the USA.

Dunbar, who turns 16 years old on December 18 of this year, netted five goals, 19 assists, 24 points in 33 games as a rookie sensation for the NOJHL Thunderbirds this season.

Hailing from the Michigan Soo, Dunbar was picked by the Flint Firebirds in the third round of this year’s Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft from the Soo Thunderbirds (now Soo Jr. Greyhounds) of the Great North Midget Hockey League.

A 2019 OHL draft pick of the Flint Firebirds, Tyler Dunbar has opted to join the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL from the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL for the balance of this season.
