Eagles end Voodoo magic

Shane Brancato made 28 saves and the Soo Eagles won for the eighth straight time on Saturday while halting the 21-game winning streak of the Powassan Voodoos.

Forward Joel Brandinger and defenseman Brice French both had one-goal, two-assist outings for coach Doug Laprade’s well-prepared Eagles, who strengthened their hold on third place in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League with a decisive 5-1 win over the visiting Voodoos.

The victory vaulted the Eagles record to 16-10-3 while the East Division-leading Voodoos now have a 23-2-0 mark.
