Soo Eagles took advantage — barely — of a Soo Thunderbirds team that opted to rest several top players in the regular season finale for both clubs on Wednesday.

The Eagles scored a come-from-behind 4-3 overtime decision over the Thunderbirds to claim third place in the West Division, one point ahead of the Blind River Beavers.

The fourth-place Beavers must now play fifth-place Elliot Lake Wildcats in a best-of-three preliminary series with the winner of the set facing the first-place Rayside-Balfour Canadians in a West Division semi-final.

The other West Division semi-final will feature the second-place Thunderbirds and third-place Eagles as the famed Twin Soo border battle will carry on.

  1. Just a fun thing . The loss of two points over score card error had some effect of out come of 3rd and 4th place. What a coincidence .
