Defenseman Nick Trecroce certainly picked a good time to score his first two goals as a member of the Soo Eagles.

After putting up 26 points — all assists — during the regular season, Trecroce tallied a pair of second-period goals to spark the Eagles to a 4-1, come-from-behind win over the visiting Elliot Lake Wildcats in Game 1 of the best-of-three, preliminary-round, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League series.

About 600 fans took in the playoff match tonight on a lake-effect snow evening in the Michigan Soo.

Shrugging off an injury, Adam Ostrowski also scored for the Eagles before Chris Lutz put away the Wildcats with an empty-net marker.

Kade Phipps made 26 saves for the Eagles, allowing only a game-first goal by Elliot Lake’s Nick Long.

Game 2 in the series is slated for Saturday night in Elliot Lake.
