Feeling it in French River

French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have already surpassed their win total from 2016-2017 just six games into the 2017-2018 campaign.

Playing at home on Friday night, French River outlasted the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 7-6 in double overtime.

First-year coach Ken Strong and his Rapids now have a tidy record of 4-1-1 to begin the season.

French River had a record of 3-51-2 under since-departed coach Moe Mantha last season.

What you think about “Feeling it in French River”

  1. It’s awesome to see the former basement dwellers enjoying hot starts to the season. I see Blind River keeping it up based on last year, still unsure about French River though.

Speaking of basement dwellers, sadly, as I watch the Espanola Express get pummeled nightly, it leads me to think that franchise needs a complete overhaul from the management down like what happened in French River and Blind River.

There’s something about having a GM double as an assistant coach, and a director of player personnel that never shows up to home games that leads me to believe they really don’t give a you know what. The players deserve better.

I’m stoked for the towns of Noelville and Blind River though, those are some grade A hockey people in charge there.
