Ryan Wood, hired earlier this off season as the new coach and general manager of the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, has confirmed that Doug Bolger will return to the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League team as an assistant coach.

Bolger is a Kirkland Lake product who played two seasons with the erstwhile Kirkland Lake Legion 87’s of the Great North Midget Hockey League. The 2017-2018 season will be his second as an assistant coach with the Gold Miners.

Wood noted that he will “lean on” Bolger for “stat trends and data” as the Gold Miners “bring analytics into the mix.”
