Loft lands in French River
French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have reeled in 6-foot-2, 200-pound defender Connor Loft by way of the Mississauga Reps of the AAA midget Greater Toronto Hockey League.
Loft, who has a 1999 birth date, also played in 16 games over the past two seasons as an affiliate player with the Mississauga Chargers of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Ken Strong, new head coach of the Rapids, noted that Loft “was sought after by many Jr. A teams and I’m extremely happy that we could add a player of Connor’s skill to our roster.”
Sherry Bassin, who is the Rapids new director of hockey operations, said he is rather familiar with Loft.
“I have watched Connor for several years and I am very impressed with his hockey smarts and on-ice leadership,” Bassin relayed.
Loft, from his end, is anxious to head to French River.
“I have visited the French River a couple of times prior to signing and it’s a great community with passionate fans, which helped me make my decision to play there. I am also very excited to be playing for Ken Strong and Sherry Bassin who have won at every level they were part of,” summed up Loft.
