More Eagles off to school

Make that two more players from the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League who have secured Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association commitments ahead of the 2019-2020 season.

Forwards Riley Jensen and Kobe Keller have both committed to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Hockey News North has confirmed.

The commitments of Jensen and Keller follow three earlier school packages for Eagles players since the end of the 2018-2019 season.

Earlier, goalie Joseph Benedetto committed to Lawrence University, defenseman Mikey Butcher got a deal to go to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points and defensemen Lucas Rothe opted for Chatham University. All three schools are part of Division 3, NCAA programs.

“The Soo Eagles are very proud of all of our players who get to continue to play hockey while furthering their education at good schools,” Eagles president and general manager Bruno Bragagnolo told Hockey News North.

“This brings our total number of college commitments to more than 110 in 10 years for our program,” Bragagnolo added.
