Ryan Woodward will take over from the retired Paul Gagne as head coach of the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Rock president Ted Gooch confirmed the hiring of Woodward, who has spent the past two seasons as associate coach and assistant general manager with the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

While with Wellington, Woodward learned the ropes from venerable Dukes coach-general manager Marty Abrams. Abrams is one of the most-successful coaches in Canadian Jr. Hockey League history.

Abrams has no doubt that Woodward will succeed as a head coach in Timmins.

“Ryan will do a great job in Timmins, he has an unbelievable work ethic and passion for coaching,” Abrams told HockeyNewsNorth.com.
