NOJHL final four begins

Blind River Beavers and Powassan Voodoos have both used home ice to take opening games in their respective Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League division finals.

At Blind River, hometown product Caleb Serre was the opening-game hero as the Beavers began the best-of-seven West Division final with a 2-1 triumph over the Soo Eagles. Serre, a rookie forward, scored the winning goal for Blind River midway through the third period.

Game 2 is slated for Sunday night at 6:30 in Blind River.

At Powassan, Gary Mantz tallied once and added two assists as the Voodoos opened the East Division final with a 6-2 cuffing of the Timmins Rock.

Game 2 goes tonight at 7:00 in Powassan.

    Wow Caleb, you came through when you were needed.
    Dam was packed again as will be the same tomorrow night.
