A pair of weekend triumphs by the French River Rapids boosted their season win total from three to five. We go there and elsewhere around the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

With team president Paul Frustaglio behind the bench as the interim head coach, French River used home ice to cuff the Elliot Lake Wildcats 8-3 and edge the Blind River Beavers 3-2. The two victories improved the Rapids record to 5-14-2 on the season.

Frustaglio was filling in for rookie head coach Shawn Frappier, who has taken a leave of absence from his position with French River, as Hockey News North was first to report.

Will Frustaglio sparked French River to the two wins with a six point weekend made up of three goals and three assists. The younger Frustaglio scored the game winner in the victory over Blind River with a third period, shorthanded marker.
