Chad Denault, a third-round selection of the Peterborough Petes at the 2016 Ontario Hockey League draft, has signed with the Rayside-Balfour Canadians of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed that Rayside-Balfour has inked Denault, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound, 2000 birth-year right winger who skated for the Sudbury Wolves minor midgets in 2015-2016.

“We are very pleased to announce Chad has trusted his development to coach Dave Clancy and our staff,” Rayside-Balfour owner Adrian Gedye told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “Chad had numerous NOJHL teams recruiting him but he is very comfortable continuing his playing career with us.

“I am confident Chad will have both NCAA Division 1 and OHL options and we are excited to help him achieve his goals whichever route he chooses,” Gedye added.

  1. Yet another Iroquois falls product. The lil hockey factory that could. Good luck Chad. Interesting that if Chad doesn’t crack the Petes this fall, it’ll be only the 3rd or 4th year in about 14 years that the community of Iroquois falls, population 4500 won’t have a kid playing major junior. Brendan Locke could of played in the O last year to reduce the number of years to 2 or 3 but elected to keep his NCAA eligibility and of course that paid off huge with his Ivy League scholarship. That is another question, when is the last time a NOJHL grad received a D1 Ivy League scholly?
