Savignac sparks the Express

There is little doubt about the ability and skill level of Devon Savignac.

And what the 2003 birth year forward and Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft pick of the North Bay Battalion is capable of was on full display for the Espanola Express of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in a rousing victory over the French River Rapids.

The electrifying speedster, who hails from the Greater Sudbury area, came through with a three goal, hat trick performance to propel Espanola to a 7-4 Friday night road win over French River.

Savignac now has five goals in five games to begin the season.

The win boosts Espanola’s record to 2-1-2 on the NOJHL regular season chart while French River now has a 3-2-0 mark with both teams showing six points through five meetings thus far on the 2020-2021 slate.

Cameron Walker

Cameron Walker with a pair of markers, James Eng, with a goal and three assists, and Cole Delarosbil also scored for the Express. Bradley Brunet chipped in with four assists and defenseman A.J. Favot set up a pair of markers for Espanola in support of goalie Carson Boutin, who made 30 saves.

Griffin Simpson tallied three times and Kyle Munyankuge hit the back of the net once for French River.
