Graduated Timmins Rock gunslinger Derek Seguin is headed to North Bay to play Ontario university hockey for the Nipissing Lakers next season.

Seguin’s family advisor, Adrian Gedye of Pinnacle Hockey Management, confirmed the commitment of his client to Hockey News North.

The 5-foot-10, 185 pound Seguin tied for the lead in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in scoring during the abbreviated 2020-2021 season. The speedy forward with a 2000 birth date netted 23 goals, 13 assists, 36 points in just 22 games to lead his hometown Timmins team to a league-best record of 18-4-0.

Over four NOJHL terms with the Rock, Seguin totaled 95 goals, 87 assists, 182 points in 160 regular season games.

Meanwhile, Kevin Peever has confirmed his departure as general manager of the NOJHL Rock after five years with the Timmins franchise.

Peever is leaving the Rock to take a position with the aforementioned Adrian Gedye of Pinnacle Hockey Management.
