Shuffle in the Beavers net
Reigning West Division playoff champion Blind River Beavers have shuffled their net worth with the 2018 portion of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season set to get underway.
The Beavers have dealt their starting goalie, Michael Corson, to the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Hockey League in a cash exchange. Corson, who has a 1999 birth date, had requested to be traded to the BCHL via family advisor David Maciuk of JDM Sports.
To replace Corson, Beavers head coach Kyle Brick told Hockey News North that he is awaiting finalization of paper work to bring in a 1997 birth year goalie from the North American Hockey League.
Blind River returns to action on Thursday when it plays a road match against the Rayside-Balfour Canadians.
Garret Boyonoski will start in goal for the Beavers against Rayside-Balfour and will be backed up by minor midget affiliate stalwart Noah Zeppa of the Soo Thunderbirds of the Great North Midget Hockey League.
Boyonoski, a Sault Ste. Marie product with a 1999 birth date, has a record of 9-8-0 with a 2.75 goals against average and .926 save percentage for the Beavers thus far this season.
Blind River heads into Thursday’s game in second place in the West Division, three points ahead of Rayside-Balfour with the Canadians holding six games in hand on the Beavers.
