Soo boys spark Blind River

Blind River Beavers goalie Gavin Disano makes one of 48 saves in Saturday’s win over the Soo Thunderbirds.

Devin Mauro netted the tying tally in the third period, then sealed the deal in the shootout, and fellow Sault Ste. Marie product Gavin Disano made 48 saves as Blind River Beavers edged the visiting Soo Thunderbirds  5-4 in another cohort contest between the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League rivals on Saturday night.

The game was the 13th of the season between the two teams with the Soo holding the edge with seven wins.

Overall, the Thunderbirds now have a record of 10-5-2 and Blind River has an 8-8-1 mark with both teams having played 17 games in this COVID-19 affected season.

Another match between the Beavers and the visiting Thunderbirds is set for this afternoon at 4 p.m.
