A pair of graduating forwards from the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association commitments for the 2020-2021 season.

Hockey News North has confirmed that Joel Brandinger is headed to play for the Tufts University Jumbos of the New England Small College Athletic Conference and Jake Lamberty is off to suit up for the Wisconsin-based Northland College Lumberjacks of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Brandinger was a point-per-game skater for the Eagles during the 2019-2020 season with 19 goals and 23 assists in 42 games.

Lamberty, meanwhile, played three full seasons for the Eagles, totaling 31 goals, 54 assists, 85 points in 143 games.

Eagles general manager Bruno Bragagnolo noted that “these are great opportunities for both boys to continue to play hockey while getting a good education. The Soo Eagles appreciate what Joel and Jake brought to our program and we wish them both the absolute best.”

The NCAA commitments of Brandinger and Lamberty follow an earlier one made by standout Eagles goalie Shane Brancato, who will tend twine for the Trine University Thunder in the fall.
