Make that a fourth player from the Canadian side of the St. Mary’s River to join the Michigan-based Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Eagles co-coach/general manager Bruno Bragagnolo has confirmed the signing of 1996 birth-year defenseman Nick Trecroce to HockeyNewsNorth.com.

Trecroce joins three other Canadian Soo products with the Eagles. The others are 1997 birth-year forward Jake Palmerio, 1998 birth-year defenseman Carmen Scarfone and 1999 birth-year defenseman Nolan Makkonen.

“He brings a veteran presence and leadership to our defensive core,” Bragagnolo said of the 5-foot-7, 165-pound Trecroce. “He also has a great passion for the game.”

A former Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Sudbury Wolves, Trecroce has prior junior experience with the Blind River Beavers of the NOJHL and the Smiths Falls Bears of the Central Canada Hockey League.

The Eagles, who are off to a 0-1-1 start to the 2016-2017 NOJHL season, play the Soo Thunderbirds in a home-and-home series this weekend.
